Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' is an original collection gathered from the Shei-Pa area of the Central Mountains, Taiwan. The massive palmate leaves, rivalling those of Gunnera manicata, are gorgeously lobed to well over a metre wide. New growth and the under-sides of the leaves are covered with a beige indumentum (woolly hairs to you and me).
